The Responsibility Code

  • Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.

  • People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.

  • You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.

  • Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.

  • Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.

  • Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.

  • Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

KNOW THE CODE. IT’S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Checklist for a Day on the Mountain!

COVID-19 Changes

  • Please do not attend class if anyone in your household has been exposed to COVID-19 or is demonstrating symptoms.

  • Registration will be completed in the yurt. The yurt is located behind the lodge on the top of the hill. Your arrival time is 9:30-9:45. If you arrive after this time, you are considered late for your 10 am class. The same goes for the afternoon classes which arrival time is 12:30-12:45. Please be on time for class.

  • Please be on time for registration and lessons. It is required to check in with the registrar at each visit.

    • Registration is between 9:30am and 9:45am for AM Sessions

    • Registration is between 12:30am and 12:45pm for PM Sessions.

    • The registration time is your arrival time for your class. If you arrive later than this time then you are considered late for class. We will decide if the student can enter the class without disruptions.

  • Take the student to the bathroom before each visit and break. The parent will be contacted if the student needs to use the restroom during class.

  • Please let the registrar and instructor know of any medical or learning conditions, to optimize the lesson.

  • All parents will need to sign the Mogul Buster release form and photo release at check-in.

  • Have a charged cell phone on you during class. It is what we use during emergencies.

  • At this point in time, the lodge will be open along with our yurt to our customers. I would bring a lunch as the lodge’s services are limited. Remember to clean your own tables with the cleaning supplies available.

Your ride up to the mountain

  • Purchase a snow park permit.

  • Make sure your tires and battery are ready for the weather.

  • Chains or snow tires are required on Hwy 26 in the winter. Carry chains and make sure they fit your tires.

  • Jumper cables and a snow shovel are recommended.

  • Check the weather the night before and give yourself extra time for conditions. Traffic can be very heavy due to all weather conditions. It can take 45 minutes between Rhododendron and the Ski Bowl on certain days.

  • Charge your cell phone.

Suggestions for your visit to the mountain

  • Please consider tipping your instructor personally.

  • Equipment is not included in the lessons and should be rented prior to the lessons – Seasonal rentals are a really great option. The registrar can recommend rental shops.

  • Make sure all equipment is up to date and fits properly. Newer technology will improve the learning curve. (No straight skis.)

  • Used equipment should be inspected and waxed by a professional shop.

  • Helmets are strongly recommended for the student’s safety. They are essential for the chair lift classes.

  • A beginning skier should have a ski that is shaped and no higher than the arm pit. Be firm with rental shop on this one! An experienced ski length will range from the chin to the nose of the student.

  • Mogul Busters does not utilize poles in classes until the skier is in a beginning parallel turn.

  • Label all equipment, gloves, goggles, and rental equipment. Mogul Busters is not responsible for lost or misplaced equipment.

  • The boot is the most important piece of equipment your child will wear. It is imperative that you do not leave grow room when getting fitted. Here is a video we recommend to insure that students get the perfect fit.

  • Do not layer socks. Layered socks will bunch up and cause pain in the boot known as a “hot spot”.

  • Pack all of your equipment the night before.

  • Parents must supervise the student during lunch and provide lunch, during 12-1.

  • Multorpor Lodge is 30 feet from the Yurt. It has lunch options but might have a long lines to get them.

  • Pack a lunch and eat in the car or picnic. Also include extra snacks for on the ride home.

  • Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day, so be sure not to skip it.

    Skill Buliding

  • If you pre-rent your equipment the night before, your kids can practice on the carpet at home. Make a BIG space, and keep them far away from any stairs and furniture!

  • Take a little masking tape and make a pizza shape with slices and have them walk around it in their boots first then try it with one ski matching it to the lines on the slice shapes. Let them see if they can keep the top (shovel) part of the one ski in the center of the pizza pie.

  • Another skill builder is sidestepping along tape lines on the carpet keeping both toes in the same direction.

  • Practice picking up the one ski and placing it on the line of tape then have them match their boot on the line next to it. Pick up and step, repeat on the tape lines for fun.

Clothing for the slopes

  • Stay away from cotton, when bundling up for the day. Including cotton socks.

  • Layer clothing, it allows you to accommodate your body’s constantly changing temperature. For example, dress in polypropylene underwear it feels good next to the skin, dries quickly, absorbs sweat and keeps you warm.

  • Utilize water resistant outerwear.

  • Helmets are strongly recommended for the student’s safety. They are essential for the chair lift classes.

  • Pack extra ski mittens & ski socks for the afternoon lesson. No Fleece mittens or gloves.

  • Pack an extra set of clothing.

  • Snowboarders may wear wrist guards on their hands to prevent injury to their wrist.

  • Wear Sunscreen and Lip Balm.

  • Goggles in the early part of the season and sunglasses for the Spring.

  • Carry a whistle in your upper pocket.

BATHROOM: They are located in the Multorpor Lodge basement. Don’t ask them just take them. For the safety of our instructors and you child, you will be contacted if your child has to use the restroom during class.

All students must have a lift ticket or season pass, regardless of their ability level and what class they will be participating in.
